1. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account information: your name and email address when you register
• Boat data: boat name, type, registration details, maintenance records, documents, inventory items, and logbook entries you create
• Payment information: processed securely via Stripe; we do not store card numbers or sensitive payment data
• Usage analytics: anonymised usage patterns to improve the application (page views, feature usage)
• Support communications: messages you send to our support team

2. How We Use Your Data

• Providing and maintaining the BoatWise service
• Sending transactional emails (maintenance reminders, account notifications, subscription confirmations)
• Processing payments and managing subscriptions via Stripe
• Responding to support requests
• Improving our application based on anonymised usage data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage & Processors

• Supabase (EU region): all application data including account information and boat data is stored on Supabase infrastructure within the European Union
• Stripe: payment processing and subscription management; Stripe is PCI DSS compliant
• Resend: transactional email delivery

4. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion: request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability: request an export of your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection: object to processing of your personal data in certain circumstances

To exercise any of these rights, please email privacy@apptechno.net. We will respond to GDPR requests within 30 days.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data and boat records are permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained longer.

6. Cookies

BoatWise uses only functional cookies necessary for authentication and maintaining your session. We do not use tracking, advertising, or third-party analytics cookies.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Row-Level Security (RLS) on all database tables, and secure authentication. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by a prominent notice within the application. Continued use of BoatWise after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
